Merry Christmas to Me!

So....it's been practically 12 weeks since I've had a "real" run.....this afternoon J and I went to the gym.  I decided that, since it's Christmas and all ;)...I'd give a treadmill run a whirl.

It felt great!

I did a little over 3 miles....warmed up with 5 minutes of walking at a 4.0 pace, then ran 5 minutes at a 6.0 pace.  I backed it down for 5 minutes at a 4.0 pace again....and marveled at how great my ankle felt.

Then, i decided to be crazy....i did 5 more minutes at a 6.0 pace....and then cranked it up to 8.0.  I did some intervals there for a while....and still felt great.

After a total of 36 minutes, I hopped off for some strength training.

I wanted to run more....but decided I shouldn't push my luck.

It was a great Christmas present :).

It's crazy, though, how sore my legs are! Ha! I feel like a big ol' wimp :).  I cant wait to build back up to my old levels of fitness...and then some :).

Bring it, 2011! :)

1st LRC training run of the season!

So i got back about an hour ago from my first training run of the season with the Lake Run Club marathon training group.  It was great!  It's fun, because now that it's my second season with the group i know at least a few people and feel "legitimate" now ;).  The people there today were running five miles, but my training program called for seven today.  So, i ran the first 2.5 miles with 3 other people in the group, but when they turned around, I continued on for one more mile before turning around to make it a total of seven miles.  When i was about 1.33 miles from the end...I saw Merlin, an awesome runner.  He had been running with me for the first portion, but turned around to finish with the other two in our part of the group.  Well, after they finished...he turned back and came to find me :).  That last 1.33 miles was great!  He really pushed me and we did the last mile in under 8.  Overall, I ran the 7 miles in 1:01, which breaks down to an approximate 8:43/mile pace.

It was a great run! It's so much fun to get a chance to run with other "serious" runners.  Merlin also gave me lots of advice as we ran together...which was fabulous :).

Tomorrow am I am going to go early again to run with the group....but i need to do 14 tomorrow.

Have a great day all!

Finally

Fiiiiiinallly starting to stay light out a bit later.  I hurried home around 5:30 tonight, quickly changed into my under armour and favorite green vest, and set out on a 4 mile run.  It was delightfully delicious.  I made the mistake of not wearing gloves (yeah...my hands basically froze) nor anything on my head/ears (they didn't seem to suffer like my poor hands though!).  Still, though, it was wonderful.  I felt so wonderful through entire run.  I would've of course liked to go for even longer....but as it was....i was already running late for knitting group (i had made plans to go with Jillian)....and it was pretty dark by 6:30 when i was done. Oh well!  I'll definitely take it! :)  i am so thankful! :)  i can't explain it fully....but  I am truly a better person when I'm running :).

I also was able to run outside Sunday afternoon...9 miles!  It did have a bit of drama....3.3 miles in, 8 totally bit it! I tripped over some uneven sidewalk and fell to both knees....and ripped both knees of my lovely running tights.  Ugh!

But......

I <3 running......
